Tamarindo Beach, Costa Rica

About Tamarindo

Once a sleepy fishing village, Tamarindo now is the second largest beach town in Costa Rica and attracts visitors from all over the world. Located on the ‘Gold Coast” of Costa Rica, Tamarindo is located on the North West Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the region of Guanacaste. Tamarindo is very easy to reach, an hours drive from the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) in Liberia or four hours from Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) in San Jose. Sitting in a tropical dry forest, Tamarindo enjoys two seasons – a dry and a green season, with each season having something unique to offer.

The dry season (high season) enjoys offshore winds, clear skies, perfect turquoise water, and perfect sunny skies with no rain. The town buzzes with travellers from all over the world, surfers and local ‘Ticos’ (Costa Ricans). The green season shows it’s true colors with the verdant jungle canopy with the backdrop of clear mornings, pleasant afternoon showers, and stunning sunsets. Rainbows are a weekly, if not daily, experience and visitors appreciate the somewhat more “tranquilo” style of this fantastic time of year.
